Interactive Metronome

Timing is a domain-general mechanism and it is the basis for attention, working memory and processing speed, all of which are critical for social interaction, attention, handwriting, behavior and language development. Interactive Metronome (a.k.a. IM) is a powerful, technology-based training program that improves timing in the brain in an organized, systematic, flexible and engaging format. Research shows that combining whole body movements with cognitive tasks leads to overall better outcomes. IM is a patented and unique training tool that challenges thinking and movement simultaneously, providing real-time millisecond feedback to help synchronize the body’s “internal clock.”

What's more, IM helps individuals strengthen the communication of information between the two sides of the brain. Many individuals with processing difficulties have trouble with bilateral processing--communication of information between the two sides of the brain. Improving bilateral communication can help improve physical coordination, such as riding a bike or tying your shoes, to cognitive abilities, such as processing abstract information. Finally, IM can help build sustained attention and focus. As individuals improve at IM, programs are lengthened to help them master the focus necessary to control their timing and sequencing for longer and longer periods of time.
